Stock Watch: MGM and Casino Stocks

We mentioned that we're getting back into the stock market over the summer, and we can't wait any longer.

We aren't giving this out as a Free Stock Pick quite yet, but we like what the future holds for Metro Goldwynn Mayer, or MGM, which opened the day at $7.13 a share.

In fact, we like quite a few casino stocks as long term holds. Las Vegas Sands (LVS) opened at $9.10, and though a little pricier at $16.30, International Game Technology (IGT) has plenty of long term value.

All of these casino stocks have seen better days, but there are also better days ahead. These three stocks were all well above the $30 per share mark a year ago, and we have reason to believe they'll return to that mark as the economy continues to rebound.

For now, because of its potential and lower value at the moment, MGM is our main focus, but don't count out the others.

When we do decide on a stock (or three), we'll post it on the right hand side of the page, where we post the rest of our important gibberish. For now, watch these stocks closely. Depending on how they perform today or in the coming week, we could be making an investment very soon.

Odds Favor Obama to be the Next President

Does the poor economy have you down?

We'll, now's your chance to make back some of the money you might have lost in the stock market. How? By betting on who will be the next President of the United States!

Here is our quarter-annual Free Presidential Election Pick:

Barack Obama over John McCain

It's looking more and more like Barack Obama has a slight edge over John McCain, and there simply isn't enough time for McCain to make up ground.

The Sarah Palin buzz has worn off to an extent, while Obama's VP choice of Joe Biden looks to be a safe pick who will not sway voters either way.

We are not endorsing either candidate, we just feel like the odds favor Obama. Democratic or Republican, if you want to win some cash on election day, go with Obama.

We Still Like AIG

Last week we gave you AIG as our first Free Stock Pick in a while. Since then, it has dipped a little, but with the economic bailout finally coming through from the United States government, AIG should rise again soon.

That said, we still like AIG... and so does Wayne Rooney and Manchester United of the English Premier League. If you're unfamiliar, the England star and the rest of his Manchester teammates are sponsored by AIG, and represent our Free Stock Pick with every goal.

So, just as it is with this site, if you stick with it long enough, you're going to make some money.

Finally, a Free Stock Pick!

It's been a long time since we've rolled out a Free Stock Pick here, and for good reason. The United States economy has been less than solid recently, so you can't blame us for staying away.

However, for those of you still interested in the stock picks we (sometimes) have to offer, we have great value on our latest find.

You might have heard recently of American International Group, more commonly known by the acronym AIG. Perhaps you've also heard of the government bailout of the company and the subsequent drop in the stock from the 52-week high of $70.13 all the way down to the 52-week low of $1.25.

Clearly the company has seen better days. But those days are about to come back, and as the stock closes at an even $5, it's time to get in.

As you can see, the last couple of days have seen the stock rise back up, and it won't end there. While it won't be getting back to $70 anytime soon, it will be going up--and fast.

Stocks Update

As you might be able to tell from the name, one of our original focuses here at Stock Lemon was providing our readers with stock advice and recommendations in addition to our free picks in all kinds of sports. However, with the United States economy currently unstable, we have not been touching anything in the stock market for quite some time.

Don't worry, though, we will soon be back to providing you with free stock picks, in addition to our sports analysis and advice.

As always, stay tuned.
