Super Bowl Down, March Madness Ahead

With one of our major betting events on the calendar in the books after a successful Super Bowl, it's time to turn our attention to the next biggest event: March Madness.

Now, in years past we've tried all sorts of March Madness coverage. We've bet on every single game, we've joined the office pools that everyone loves so much and we've even bet on secondary tournaments like the NIT and CBI and whatever other acronyms make up lesser postseason NCAA Basketball events.

This year, we're trying something different. We will focus all of our attention on ... the women's bracket.

Okay, okay. We kid. But we will have extensive coverage of the Men's Tournament yet again, so be sure to join us throughout March Madness as it awkwardly drags into April.

If you don't like what we have to offer, be sure to check out Doc's Sports for all the March Madness Picks and NCAA Tournament Projections you can handle.

We look forward to yet another huge sporting event, so hop aboard and enjoy the ride here at Stock Lemon!

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet Results

The Super Bowl isn't nearly over, but already we have the results for the Super Bowl coin toss and Super Bowl National Anthem.

In the National Anthem, Carrie Underwood went OVER the 1 minute, 42 second mark, despite recent history suggesting she might go under.

In the Coin Toss, the Saints won the toss with a heads call, leaving the all-time Super Bowl coin toss tally at 22-22, heads tied with tails. The Saints became the 13th consecutive NFC team to win the Super Bowl coin flip.

What a start to the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV (44)!

UPDATE: After the game, Sean Payton received an orange Gatorade Shower, a complete wild card in the betting.

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: Historical Colts

We're hours away from the Super Bowl, and all of our Super Bowl coverage can be found on the right or by clicking here.

But we aren't done yet.

Although the following bets will require you to lay some chalk, we like three of these Colts historical bets (as compared to their last Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XLI) to exceed their last Super Bowl (Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark) and one not to (Joseph Addai).

Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Passing Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must start game for wagers to have action.
Peyton Manning Super Bowl XLIV
Peyton Manning Super Bowl XLI (247 Passing Yards)
Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Rushing Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must play in game for wagers to have action.
Joseph Addai Super Bowl XLIV
Joseph Addai Super Bowl XLI (77 Rushing Yards)
Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Receiving Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must play in game for wagers to have action.
Reggie Wayne Super Bowl XLIV
Reggie Wayne Super Bowl XLI (61 Receiving Yards)
Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Receiving Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must play in game for wagers to have action.
Dallas Clark Super Bowl XLIV
Dallas Clark Super Bowl XLI (36 Receiving Yards)

Our feeling in regards to taking bets with a lot of juice is that if you find multiple bets that look good, it will be worth your while in the end. So, at least as far as individual numbers are concerned, this Super Bowl against the Saints will be better for the Colts bettors.

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: Hurricane Katrina

Super Bowl XLIV - How Many Times will CBS announcers
fully mention Hurricane Katrina during the game?
Wager is on the number of times announcers specifically say - Hurricane Katrina - during the Game (from kick off until final whistle). Max $50 no exceptions.
Over 2 1/2 (-300)
Under (+240)

Leading up to the Super Bowl, we'll be taking a look at various proposition bets for the 2010 Super Bowl, Super Bowl 44, Super Bowl XLIV, The Big Game, or whatever it's called these days.

Hurricane Katrina was a tragic event that has re-shaped New Orleans, and now it could re-shape the way some Super Bowl prop bettors distribute their money. Those who read this will prevent it from being tragic yet again.

The over/under for full mentions of Hurricane Katrina during the Super Bowl is set at 2 1/2. With the Saints reaching the pinnacle of their sport, it's easy to see why the storm would get more mentions than that. However, the sticking point for us is that they have to be full mentions - Hurricane Katrina rather than just the shortened Katrina.

With all the mentions that the Hurricane has received during the last few years, and even the last two weeks, it's widely accepted to just refer to it as Katrina.

And that technicality is the reason we are going with UNDER 2 1/2 mentions of Hurricane Katrina. And at +240, this is one of the best bets on the board.

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: Archie Manning

Super Bowl XLIV - How Many Times will CBS show Archie Manning
on TV during the Game?
Wager is on the number of times Archie Manning will appear on TV during the Game (from kick off until final whistle). Live pictures only, Any Taped Pictures
or Past Video does not count towards wager. Max $50 no exceptions.
Over 4 1/2
Under

Leading up to the Super Bowl, we'll be taking a look at various proposition bets for the 2010 Super Bowl, Super Bowl 44, Super Bowl XLIV, The Big Game, or whatever it's called these days.

Not since manipulating the draft in Eli Manning's favor has Archie Manning had such an impact on a sporting event. Tonight, the prop bet "How many times will Archie Manning be shown on TV" is one of the hottest bets out there.

The over/under is set at 4 1/2, which seems high by first glance. However, considering that Archie Manning played for the Saints in addition to being Peyton Manning's father, he is the biggest non-game story of the Super Bowl, as he can be shown in reference to either team. If the Saints win, we think they'll show some shots of Archie. If the Colts win, we think they'll show some shots of Archie. So either way, he will get plenty of face time.

That's why we are going with over 4 1/2 shots of Archie Manning during the game.
