2009 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 10-12

The mock madness continues today with picks 10-12. Be sure to check out the rest of the mock draft by clicking the links on the upper right hand side of this page.

And off we go...

10. 49ers: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

The 49ers would have loved for one of the quarterbacks to fall to the tenth spot, but they'll settle for one of the top two quarterback targets in this draft. Maclin brings speed--and lots of it. He should give San Fran the offensive spark they've been looking for in the passing game, regardless of who they have throwing him the ball.

11. Bills: Everette Brown, DE, Florida State

The Bills need some help on the defensive line, and Brown is considered by most to be the second best end in the draft (and the best still available at this pick), and he's shooting fast up the draft board. Brown's quickness and versatility will make him a lot of money next weekend, and for good reason. He can probably play linebacker in a 3-4, but in Buffalo he'll stick to where he's most comfortable as an end in the 4-3.

12. Broncos: Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State

The men in charge in Denver would have loved to see Brown fall to them at 12, but Maybin is a heck of a consolation prize. Maybin came out of nowhere and had a huge season for the Nittany Lions when he finally got the playing time and opportunity to display his talent. Maybin is also a candidate for a linebacker role in the Broncos 3-4 defense. Some think the Broncos might be able to snatch up maybe at pick 18, but we don't think they'll take that chance.

Keep checking back for more of our first full mock draft. 20 picks to go!

Free NIT Championship Pick

First and foremost, be advised that this is a pretty strong lean, but if it weren't the NIT Championship, the enormous event that it is, it probably would fall just short of being and actual Free NCAA Basketball Pick in our system.

There is still some good value in this one though, worthy of a small play.

Baylor -3 1/2 over Penn St.

It's tough to bet against the NITtany Lions, but Baylor is the hotter team at the moment and should bring home the title.

Good luck if you choose to play this one.

Virginia Tech Covers For 2-0 Bowl Day

After USC beat Penn State 38-24 in the Rose Bowl, Virginia Tech was able to take care of a +2 spread and beat Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl, 20-7.

Although we're still upset that there isn't such a thing as the Lemon Bowl, we'll take a win in whatever other fruit-titled bowl we can find.

VT's win gives our Free NCAA Football Picks a 2-0, getting our bowl picks back on track after a little slip up.

Where's the Lemon Bowl?

There have been countless arguments about whether or not college football should move to a playoff system (yes) rather than the current bowl format (no).

But the biggest outrage, in our view, is that they have an Orange Bowl and not, you guessed it, a Lemon Bowl.

After betting on the Orange Bowl earlier today, we can't believe that our favorite fruit isn't represented. FedEx needs to get on this. Look at how well Lemmy fits in the logo!

Whatever the case, we remind you that we have a pick on Virginia Tech +2 over Cinci in this one, after USC took care of the -10 spread with a 28-24 win over Penn St in the Rose Bowl.

Good luck!

That Last Pick We Promised For Today

We told you there was likely more to come with our Free NCAA Football Picks, so in addition to this and this, we're adding this one:

Michigan St. +15 1/2 over Penn St.

We weren't sure if we would include this one, even though it came up with pretty decent value in the system. Bettor's intuition or something like that. We looked over our numbers though and think this game will be closer than two touchdowns, so we'll gladly take the Spartans and the points.

This looks like our last pick for today, so you don't have to constantly check back to make sure we didn't put in a new update--but again, if you want to anyway, go right ahead.

FYI: Our system also showed some moderate value on Oklahoma -7 over Texas Tech, but we looked at those numbers and it doesn't really add up to be considered a Free NCAA Football Pick. We thought we would have more than just this one extra pick for you, but unfortunately Michigan St. is our only addition, leaving us with a five-game card today.

UPDATE: We looked at this game all afternoon, and will be playing Oklahoma -7. Hopefully you can get this before tip-off in about 20 minutes.

Good luck!
