Mock Lemon: 2010 NFL Mock Draft Results

In the end, you never know what's going to happen at the NFL Draft. But that can't stop you from trying.

Our Mock Draft netted a grand total of five correct picks. We nailed the first three (so did everyone else), including Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford going first overall to the Rams, and came away with the correct predictions for picks 17 and 19.

The bottom line is that it's a crapshoot, unlike our Free NFL Picks, which have hit at 61% over the last few years. A little early to be pimping our Free NFL Picks? Maybe so, but if you found us through the NFL Mock Draft, be sure to find us later when the stakes are a little higher.

We promise there won't be anything to mock.

With the First Pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...

We will get to our complete mock draft on Monday, but we won't leave you in suspense all weekend. The first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft will be...

Sam Bradford! Quarterback, Oklahoma.

Now the only problem is figuring out who will draft him.

Although the Rams currently hold that pick, there is a good chance that another team, namely Mike Holmgren and the quarterback collecting Browns, jumps at the opportunity to trade for the No. 1 overall pick and select Bradford.

Coming off of major shoulder surgery and given the success rate (or sometimes lack thereof) of quarterbacks selected in Round 1, Bradford isn't exactly a safe pick this year. Still, quarterbacks are hard to come by, and recent first rounders like Mark Sanchez, Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco leading their teams to playoff berths as rookies has to be in the back of everyone's mind. Especially bottom feeders like the Rams and Browns have been.

Like we said, the rest of our 2010 NFL Mock Draft is soon to follow. Stay tuned!

Want to Make $1.18 on an NBA Draft Prop?

We are always looking at new ways to make money, and any amount of money will do. However, we might by laying off this enticing proposition bet for the 2009 NBA Draft.

Courtesy of BetED:

Who will Blake Griffin play for?

Los Angeles Clippers -8500

Any other team +3500

Now, these bets are often in place just so that average bettors see the huge odds on "any other team" and decide, what the hell, I'll throw a couple of bucks on this. There is virtually no way Blake Griffin doesn't play for the Clippers in the upcoming season, and while it would be nice to win $3,500 on a $100 bet, it's not happening. The Oklahoma big man will go No. 1 and will play for the Clippers in 2009. In fact, you would be better served betting $100 on Griffin playing for the Clippers, collecting your free $1.18 cents, and buying a hamburger or pack of gum or something.

We'll look at 2009 NBA Draft prop bets a little closer tomorrow, so until then, you can budget for an extra $1.18 in your bank account.

Oh, and check out our mock draft located in the upper right hand corner of this page.

2009 NBA Mock Draft: Picks 1-2

Our pick-by-by 2009 NBA Lottery Mock Draft begins today with the first two picks in the draft. The Clippers have an obvious choice, while the Grizzlies isn't so easy.

We'll roll the picks out in pairs for the next week leading up the real NBA Draft on June 25.

1. Clippers: Blake Griffin, PF/C, Oklahoma

The Clippers won the Griffin sweepstakes thanks to a little bit of luck from the ping pong balls in May, and they'll be reaping the benefits in May (yeah, that's right, playoffs) for the next decade at least. Griffin is a can't miss prospect and is the real deal down low, so much so that not even the Clippers can screw this up. We can see him as a dominant big man in the league for a long time.

2. Grizzlies: Hasheem Thabeet, C, UConn

With Griffin off the board, the real draft begins. Big men are so hard to come by early in this guard heavey draft, and we think they'll be even harder to come by for the teams picking after Memphis. Thabeet is a talented kid and is NBA ready thanks to his college experience and incredible 7'3'' size. He's limited offensively but should be a wall defensively. The Grizzlies will be glad they passed on the many available point guards.

Two down, 12 to go as we mock the NBA Draft Lottery Picks. Check back tomorrow for picks three and four.

Don't Mock Us: 2009 NBA Mock Draft Central

With the 2009 NBA Draft set for June 25th, mock drafts are flying around similar to the frenzy surrounding the annual NFL Draft in April.

Also similar to the NFL Draft, we'll be conducting our first ever NBA Mock Draft in the days leading up to the big day.

In the NBA we'll cover the first fourteen picks as we mock the lottery teams, two at a time until draft day.

It's a pretty safe bet that Oklahoma's Blake Griffin will be the No. 1 pick selected by the Clippers, but beyond that is anyone's guess. In the coming days, you'll see our guesses.

Will Blake be the first player taken overall? Stay tuned for Stock Lemon's first annual NBA mock draft to find out.

How Sweet it Was

Oklahoma advanced to the Elite Eight tonight, winning their Sweet Sixteen match-up against Syracuse tonight, 84-71.

By doing so, the Sooners covered the -1 spread, improving our Free NCAA Basketball Picks to 8-7 (or 9-6 depending on when you got on one of our last games) during the NCAA Tournament.

One Sweet Pick Today

As the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 rolls on, we finally have a new Free NCAA Basketball Pick.

Oklahoma -1 over Syracuse

Good luck!

Sunday, March 22, 2009

OK is OK!

Oklahoma covered the -7 spread and beat Michigan 73-63, giving us... guess what? A 1-1 day!

So, here we are, 6-6 with our Free NCAA Basketball Picks in the tourney thus far, continuing to provide you with the most mediocre picks on the internet!

We will, of course, have a few more picks for Sunday's action, and hopefully we'll do a little better than .500.

Stay tuned.

Two Saturday Tournament Plays

So far, our tourney picks went 4-3 on Thursday and 1-2 on Friday, for a nice even 5-5 split. Unfortunately, when you factor in juice, we haven't been winning money on the NCAA Tournament.

We have two more Free NCAA Basketball Picks in the tourney today to try and change that.

Washington -1 over Purdue

Oklahoma -7 over Michigan

It's time we start cashing in on March Madness. Good luck!

And Your National Champion is...

Our Free NCAA Football Picks went out with a bang as Florida beat Oklahoma 24-14 to cover the -4 1/2 spread (or -6 if you didn't bet until kickoff) in the BCS Championship Game.

What this means, of course, is that we can finally crown this year's National Champion... the Utah Utes!

At 13-0, Utah is the clear National Champion in the absence of a college football playoff system.

Congratulations to the Gators on their second place finish.

BCS Championship Game Pick

It's been a fun year of college football (aside from the continuing lack of a playoffs system), but as they say, all good things must come to and end.

That end for our Free NCAA Football Picks is the BCS Championship Game between Florida and Oklahoma. In what is essentially a home game for Florida, we were faced with a choice.

Do we put our money on the Sooners, who boast the Heisman Trophy winning Sam Bradford? Or, do we bet on the Gators, who boast the Lemmy Award winning Gator Bait message board?

In the end, it was an easy decision.

Florida -4 1/2 over Oklahoma

Since apparently this is a pretty big game, we thought we'd get our pick out a day early, giving you plenty of time to check it out.

Good luck and congratulations on making it through another bowl season without having to take out a second mortgage on your house. Well, at least not because of any bets you made.

Oklahoma Gives Us a Winning Day

Heading into tonight's Oklahoma/Texas Tech match-up, our Free NCAA Football Picks were a pedestrian 2-2-1 on the day. Fortunately, we decided--after much deliberation--that Oklahoma did qualify as a Free NCAA Football Pick as touchdown favorites, and Sam Bradford and Co. made us proud.

Bradford threw four touchdowns in Oklahoma's 65-21 stomping of Texas Tech, giving us a 3-2-1 day. The winning day puts our picks at 55%, but 64% in the last 7 weeks. Here's the weekly breakdown:

Week 1: 1-2
Week 2: 2-2
Week 3: 3-2
Week 4: 3-1
Week 5: 0-5
Week 6: 1-1
Week 7: 2-1
Week 8: 2-0
Week 9: 3-1
Week 10: 5-4
Week 11: 2-0
Week 12: 1-2
Week 13: 3-2-1
Total: 28-23-1... 55%
Last 7 Weeks: 18-10-1... 64%

We look forward to some conference championships next weekend and then it's on to bowl season.

That Last Pick We Promised For Today

We told you there was likely more to come with our Free NCAA Football Picks, so in addition to this and this, we're adding this one:

Michigan St. +15 1/2 over Penn St.

We weren't sure if we would include this one, even though it came up with pretty decent value in the system. Bettor's intuition or something like that. We looked over our numbers though and think this game will be closer than two touchdowns, so we'll gladly take the Spartans and the points.

This looks like our last pick for today, so you don't have to constantly check back to make sure we didn't put in a new update--but again, if you want to anyway, go right ahead.

FYI: Our system also showed some moderate value on Oklahoma -7 over Texas Tech, but we looked at those numbers and it doesn't really add up to be considered a Free NCAA Football Pick. We thought we would have more than just this one extra pick for you, but unfortunately Michigan St. is our only addition, leaving us with a five-game card today.

UPDATE: We looked at this game all afternoon, and will be playing Oklahoma -7. Hopefully you can get this before tip-off in about 20 minutes.

Good luck!

2-0 Day in NCAA Football

Our Free NCAA Football Picks have taken their lumps this season, but after a 2-1 mark last week they went 2-0 this week, putting us back on track.

Terrelle Pryor and Ohio State trampled Michigan State 45-7, ignoring what was just a -3 spread. Meanwhile, Kansas kept it close enough against Oklahoma, covering a -20 point spread with a 45-31 loss.

The 2-0 day puts our picks back at .500, and if not for one absolutely horrible week, they would be 14-9, which is 61%. Instead, they are 14-14, so you can guess how that one week went.

Here's our week-by-week record:

Week 1: 1-2
Week 2: 2-2
Week 3: 3-2
Week 4: 3-1
Week 5: 0-5 (ouch!)
Week 6: 1-1
Week 7: 2-1
Week 8: 2-0
Total: 14-14... 50%

As you see, our Free NCAA Football Picks were enjoying steady improvement up until that dreadful Week 5. In fact, we've had just two losing weeks, only one of the losing weeks was absolutely dreadful, dragging our record down. Since that week, they are back to enjoying steady improvement--and we hope that doesn't mean another 0-5 debacle is on the horizon.

We'll hopefully get back over the hump next week, so be sure to check back as we continue to make amends for our mid-season slump.

Two Afternoon Free NCAA Football Picks

We have a couple of afternoon plays in college football today involving some match-ups between ranked teams.

Ohio State -3 over Michigan State

Kansas +20 over Oklahoma

We like Chris Wells to run by the Spartans, and Kansas should at least keep it close against the Sooners.

Good luck!

Florida and Texas Lead Us To 2-1 Day

Thanks to the play of a couple of great college quarterbacks, we won a couple of great big games today.

Tim Tebow led Florida past LSU 51-21 to cover a 6 1/2 point spread, while Colt McCoy and Texas beat Oklahoma 45-35 to take care of the +7 spread.

All in all, our Free NCAA Football Picks had a 2-1 night, and we are looking forward to this kind of success throughout the remainder of the college football season.

Three Free NCAA Football Picks Today

We have three Free NCAA Football Picks this week in what should be a good Saturday. Our computer system likes the following:

Texas +7 over Oklahoma

Florida -6 1/2 over LSU

Kentucky +3 over South Carolina

Colt McCoy and Texas should at the very least not let the Sooners beat them by a touchdown, and our system indicates that the spread is too high. Florida and Kentucky should also take care of business in what amounts to be a big game card for us.

Good luck!

Three Big NCAA Football Covers

With the Wisconsin Badgers sneaking by the Fresno State Bulldogs, the Oklahoma Sooners pounding on the Washington Huskies, and the USC Trojans taking it to the Ohio State Buckeyes, we enjoyed three solid covers Saturday.

The three covers gives us a record of 3-2 for the day, which is 60%, but we still expect better in weeks to come once we really get our Free NCAA Football picks system down.

Remember to stay with us all year for free pick after free pick after free pick...

More Free NCAA Football Picks

To go along with our Game of the Week, we have four more Free NCAA Football plays for today.
USC -11 over Ohio State
Oklahoma -20 1/2 over Washington
Virginia +11 over Connecticut
Arizona -10 1/2 over New Mexico

First, in what is definitely our second biggest play this Saturday, we like Mark Sanchez and the Trojans to humiliate the Buckeyes of Ohio State. Nothing personal, Ohio State, Big Ten teams just always seem overmatched against the top programs in the nation.

Then we like Oklahoma to route Washington, in what continues to be a disappointing season for the Huskies.

Finally, we hear dogs barking in favor of the Cavaliers, so look out UConn.

Good luck with the plays and enjoy another great Saturday of college football action. UPDATE: We're adding Arizona to the card, so we now have a total of five games today.

Keep the NCAA Tourney Picks Coming

We've got a rare underdog and an under for Friday's action.

Saint Joseph's Hawks +1 over Oklahoma Sooners

Boise State Broncos/Louisville Cardinals UNDER 148
