Mock Lemon: 2010 NFL Mock Draft Results

In the end, you never know what's going to happen at the NFL Draft. But that can't stop you from trying.

Our Mock Draft netted a grand total of five correct picks. We nailed the first three (so did everyone else), including Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford going first overall to the Rams, and came away with the correct predictions for picks 17 and 19.

The bottom line is that it's a crapshoot, unlike our Free NFL Picks, which have hit at 61% over the last few years. A little early to be pimping our Free NFL Picks? Maybe so, but if you found us through the NFL Mock Draft, be sure to find us later when the stakes are a little higher.

We promise there won't be anything to mock.

With the First Pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...

We will get to our complete mock draft on Monday, but we won't leave you in suspense all weekend. The first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft will be...

Sam Bradford! Quarterback, Oklahoma.

Now the only problem is figuring out who will draft him.

Although the Rams currently hold that pick, there is a good chance that another team, namely Mike Holmgren and the quarterback collecting Browns, jumps at the opportunity to trade for the No. 1 overall pick and select Bradford.

Coming off of major shoulder surgery and given the success rate (or sometimes lack thereof) of quarterbacks selected in Round 1, Bradford isn't exactly a safe pick this year. Still, quarterbacks are hard to come by, and recent first rounders like Mark Sanchez, Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco leading their teams to playoff berths as rookies has to be in the back of everyone's mind. Especially bottom feeders like the Rams and Browns have been.

Like we said, the rest of our 2010 NFL Mock Draft is soon to follow. Stay tuned!

2009 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 1-3

As promised, we'll be conducting our first ever full first round mock draft, beginning today. Given how much things change over the course of the pre-NFL Draft weeks, we don't advise you take any of these picks and bet on them.

When the NFL Draft rolls around, we'll offer some insight on who might go where and what odds are worth taking, but for now, this is merely for the fun and entertainment of it.

So, without further ado, here are the first two picks of our 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

1. Detroit Lions: Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia

While there are questions as to whether or not Stafford is worthy of the No. 1 overall pick, the strong-armed kid can do some good in Detroit. Taking one of the premiere tackles might make more sense here, but we think the Lions will go for a new face of the franchise in Stafford. If anyone needs a new face of the franchise, it's the 0-16 Lions.

2. St. Louis Rams: Jason Smith, T, Baylor

The main beneficiary of Detroit's decision to go with Stafford is the Rams, who are picking second for the second year in-a-row. With a need at left tackle, Jason Smith can step right in and fill the void. There are a number of other solid tackle prospects out there, but Jason Smith will likely be the first off the board.

3. Kansas City Chiefs: Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest

In our opinion, Curry is the best player in the draft and the absolute safest pick. Curry, along with any of the top three offensive tackles, should be around ten years from now still dominating at his position.

We'll have picks 4-6 for you most likely tomorrow, so make sure to check back and continue to do so as we unveil the rest of our first ever full NFL Mock Draft.

Perfect 3-0 Day For Free NFL Picks

It's safe to say that our Free NFL Picks are back on track. After struggling the last two weeks, our picks went 3-0 today.

Kurt Warner and the Cardinals made sure we didn't have to fret a -3 spread against his hold team, beating the Rams 34-13.

The Vikings took care of business against the Texans with a 28-21 win to cover the -4 1/2 spread, while the Lions managed not to get blown out, covering a +13 spread in a 27-23 loss to the Bears.

After the perfect day, our picks are back up to 62% with a record of 16-10-2. It is looking very likely that we will have a play for tomorrow night's game, so stay tuned.

Three Strong Free NFL Picks

Our Free NFL Picks have stalled lately after a fast start, hitting just 57% now on the year at 13-10-2. We hope to rebound this week with three solid picks.

Vikings -4 1/2 over the Texans

Lions +13 over the Bears

Cardinals -3 over the Rams

We like Adrian Peterson and the Vikings a lot this week against the Texans, and yes, you read that right, we are betting on the Lions. The system sees a lot of value there as well as with the Cardinals against the Rams.

It also looks like we will have a play for Monday as well, which we will reveal tomorrow. Good luck and let's get back on track.

Two Solid Free NFL Picks

We had a rough week last week, but our Free NFL Picks are still 12-8-1, which is 60%. We look to rebound this week with two solid plays.

Carolina Panthers -4 over the Arizona Cardinals

New England Patriots -7 1/2 over the St. Louis Rams

Steve Smith and the Panthers should be able to top the Cards, while New England should continue the dominance they showed on Monday Night with a big win over the rejuvanted Rams.

Good luck!

Three Free NFL Picks For Sunday

Our Free NFL Picks have been hot this year, hitting 71% with a record of 12-5-1. Once again, we have three picks this week, although that is more of a coincidence than anything. We're also coming off of a 3-0 week, so bet with confidence in our system. Without further adu, here are the picks:

Cowboys -7 over the Rams

Colts -1 1/2 over the Packers

Saints +3 over the Panthers

Even if Tony Romo sits out the Cowboys/Rams game, Marian Barber will run all over the Rams defense. The Rams are coming off a big win over the Redskins last week and will come crashing back down to Earth against Dallas.

Our system also likes the Colts, who seem to have their offense back, as well as the Saints, who continue to get no respect despite the fact that they could easily be 5-1 if not for some questionable officiating/horrible kicking. We expect all three of these road teams to win outright and cover their respective spreads.

Of course, all of our picks are documented, for the non-believers, simply by clicking on the Free NFL Picks tag at the bottom of this post. For the shorter version, here's a week-by-week breakdown of our NFL picks to date:

Week 1: 3-2
Week 2: 2-1
Week 3: 2-1
Week 4: 2-1
Week 5: 0-0-1
Week 6: 3-0
Total: 12-5-1... 71%

Good luck and enjoy another Sunday!
