College Football Saturday is Upon Us

Week 1 of the NCAA Football slate officially kicked off on Thursday (as did our now 1-0 2011 Free NCAA Football Picks), but the real deal begins today, with a full schedule of action on Saturday. And it's about time.

Our Free NCAA Football Picks got off to a frantic but successful start on Thursday, and we're looking to improve upon last season's 55% mark.

We're off to a good start, winning 10 of our last 11 going back to the 2010-11 bowl games, and we're looking to continue that run with the following plays on this busy day:

Florida State -29 1/2 over Louisiana-Monroe

Oklahoma -25 over Tulsa

Northwestern +3 1/2 over Boston College

Texas -24 1/2 over Rice

Purdue -16 1/2 over Middle Tennessee State

We could add a pick or two on Saturday morning, just watching some last minute line movements. Otherwise, including Thursday's pick, it looks like just a six-play card for week 1 of the college football season (had 10 picks to open last year).

There are certainly a few more huge favorites than we would like, but such is life in the opening week of college ball. Best of luck throughout the season (not that you'll need it if you follow us! muahaha!)

Undefeated Free NCAA Football Bowl Picks Look to Strike Again

We usually like to get our picks out earlier, but nonetheless, we have a pick in the Chick-fil-A bowl tonight.

South Carolina -3 over Florida State

We don't think Christian Ponder will play well coming off of an injury (it's still possible he doesn't play at all).

So far in the bowl season, our Free NCAA Football Picks are 4-0.

Week 6 Free NCAA Football Picks

We promised a little less volume and a little more over/unders... and we will come through on both promises just a little. With our picks struggling (a little?), we were a little more picky with our sides and a little more trustworthy in our totals, and hopefully the end results are A LOT more profitable. After Thursday's win, we'll have a total of seven plays this week, two less than our lowest week so far.

Georgia Tech -10 over Virginia

Michigan/Michigan State UNDER 65

Alabama -7 1/2 over South Carolina

Wake Forest +3 1/2 over Navy

Florida State/Miami OVER 49

Penn State -8 over Illinois

If posting a picture of Stock Lemon favorite and former Florida State babe Jenn Sterger doesn't get it done amidst all the Brett Favre sexting allegations, we don't know how to bust this slump. The ugly results to date:

Free NCAA Football Picks
Week 1: 5-4-1
Week 2: 8-4
Week 3: 3-6
Week 4: 4-7
Week 5: 3-6
Week 6: 1-0
Overall: 25-27-1... 48%

Sides: 24-27-1... 47%
Totals: 1-0... 100%!!!!!!!

Rough Day at the Office

Momma said they'll be days like this folks. Nothing like a 2-6 day and 3-6 week to take us off of our football high.

The good news is a) that photo above exists and b) we get a mulligan of sorts tomorrow with the NFL, which we will tout as being 83% this season for as long as we can.

In gambling, there will be days when Lane Kiffin inexplicably goes for two a couple times in a game and Minnesota scores a feel good, garbage touchdown with 11 seconds left. That's just how things go sometimes. Bad days happen, you just hope they aren't 2-6 bad. But when they are, it's important not to overreact. Stick with what works and in the long run you should come out on top. As long as, you know, it really works.

Alabama and Florida State provided the only two covers of the day, and that's all we care to say about September 18, 2010. As mentioned, our Thursday victory carries us to a slightly less ridiculous 3-6 week, so here's the tally:

Free NCAA Football Picks
Week 1: 5-4-1
Week 2: 8-4
Week 3: 3-6
Overall: 17-14-1... 55%

The bottom line is, we're not going anywhere. We'll be back next week with more Free NCAA Football Picks, and there is virtually nowhere to go but up.

Speaking of bottom lines, if you didn't take the opportunity to send a donation when our picks were winning, maybe it makes more sense to lend us some cash after a 3-6 week. Maybe we would have been better served betting on the UFL's opening week today.

Again, NFL tomorrow.

Week 2 Free NCAA Football Picks (56% YTD)

It's Week 2 in college football, perhaps overshadowed by Week 1 of pro football, but glorious nonetheless. The only disappointing thing is the fact that now that football is underway, every week we are closer to it all being over with again. But there's lots of time before that and hopefully lots of money to be made as well. We've already given you the following Free NCAA Football Picks:

East Carolina -13 1/2 over Memphis

Florida State +7 over Oklahoma

Tennesse +12 over Oregon

SMU -11 1/2 over UAB

USC -20 over Virginia

And now, for a few more:

Washington -13 over Syracuse

South Carolina -3 over Georgia

N.C. State +3 over Central Florida

Georiga Tech -14 over Kansas

After a 5-4-1 (56%) Week 1, we're looking to build on that win total with these nine picks AND POSSIBLY more to come. You'll just have to keep checking back and giving us page views to find out muahahaha! But really, we might be adding some very late tonight or early tomorrow, so don't say we didn't warn you.

As far as totals go, we might whip out some over/unders for Saturday but are more likely to hold off one more week, allowing our numbers to strengthen up a bit. Like we said, it is technically a different system than our patented Free NCAA Football Picks and we'd prefer to be a little more confident about what we are providing. If we get on a roll with our sides, we might keep delaying the debut of the totals.

And of course, on another note, Jenn Sterger makes her return as our featured picture gal (with a friend!), as Florida State is both one of our picks and the school she picked to launch her breasts into fame. And we thank her for that.

Good luck!

2009 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 10-12

The mock madness continues today with picks 10-12. Be sure to check out the rest of the mock draft by clicking the links on the upper right hand side of this page.

And off we go...

10. 49ers: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

The 49ers would have loved for one of the quarterbacks to fall to the tenth spot, but they'll settle for one of the top two quarterback targets in this draft. Maclin brings speed--and lots of it. He should give San Fran the offensive spark they've been looking for in the passing game, regardless of who they have throwing him the ball.

11. Bills: Everette Brown, DE, Florida State

The Bills need some help on the defensive line, and Brown is considered by most to be the second best end in the draft (and the best still available at this pick), and he's shooting fast up the draft board. Brown's quickness and versatility will make him a lot of money next weekend, and for good reason. He can probably play linebacker in a 3-4, but in Buffalo he'll stick to where he's most comfortable as an end in the 4-3.

12. Broncos: Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State

The men in charge in Denver would have loved to see Brown fall to them at 12, but Maybin is a heck of a consolation prize. Maybin came out of nowhere and had a huge season for the Nittany Lions when he finally got the playing time and opportunity to display his talent. Maybin is also a candidate for a linebacker role in the Broncos 3-4 defense. Some think the Broncos might be able to snatch up maybe at pick 18, but we don't think they'll take that chance.

Keep checking back for more of our first full mock draft. 20 picks to go!

Friday Tourney Action

Another day of the NCAA Tournament means more Free NCAA Basketball Picks.

Utah State +4 1/2 over Marquette

Utah -1 1/2 over Arizona

Florida State -3 over Wisconsin

Our Free NCAA Basketball Picks went 4-3 yesterday, and it looks like these three will be all we have for today.

Good luck!

Jenn Sterger Delivers Again!

Thanks to Jenn Sterger, we have a little bit of extra cash in our pockets. Well... thanks to her alma mater, anyway. The Florida State Seminoles walloped the Wisconsin Badgers, 42-13, covering the -6 spread with ease.

As many of you know, our favorite Facebook friend made a name for herself while at Florida State, just as we made a name for ourselves as one of the premier cappers in the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl. Our 100% accuracy in this bowl game is tied for the best in the history of the Champs Sports Bowl.

Really, though, our Free NCAA Football Picks are now 2-0 in bowl season and hopefully we will have some more bowl picks as our calendar continues to run out.

Reminder: FSU in the Champs Sports Bowl

Just posting this to remind everyone that Florida State is a Free NCAA Football Pick today in the Champs Sports Bowl over Wisconsin. Since we usually only post on the day of the game, plus with all the holiday distractions (like Lemmy's birthday), we figured you could use a friendly reminder.

We should also have a good batch of Free NFL Picks for you in the last regular season week of the season, so check back in tomorrow.

Good luck!

The Champs Sports Bowl Pick is in!

We're an incredible 1-0 so far in the college bowl season, hitting 100% of our picks! Next up: The Champs Sports Bowl. Although this bowl game is still three days away, we had to take a break from the Christmas Eve festivities to post this before the line jumped on us.

Florida State -6 over Wisconsin

With apologies to our friends over at The Bucky Channel, this isn't a good year for the Badgers to be facing the Seminoles for the first time in their history. Our Free NCAA Football Picks system sees real value in the Seminoles.

It's rare that we post a play so far in advance, so that should tell you how much we like Florida State to take care of business. Or it should tell you that we have a busy couple of days ahead and weren't sure when else to post this. Either way.

Good luck!

Lemmy Awards: Top 5 Sports Message Boards

Ladies and gentlemen, it's the moment you've all been waiting for. That's right, it's time to give out a few Lemmy Awards! In our first installment, we rewarded the top five sports betting and stock blogs on the net with the Golden Lemmy. This time, we're giving out Lemmy Awards for the top five sports message boards on the web, particularly when it comes to NCAA football. UPDATE: These are only Rivals message boards.

This Texas sports message board has a football, basketball and other section. As they say, everything is bigger in Texas.

The best collegiate board Iowa has to offer includes the largest wrestling themed board on the web.

Florida State's board has a rare baseball section packed full of wise commenters.

Up in Michigan, there's never a dull moment on The Wolverine boards.

Not far behind Florida State, Florida's message board provides enough insight on Gator sports to earn a Lemmy Award.
