Stock Lemon's Role in The Bucky Channel Relaunch

For those familiar with this site, you know that we frequently link to and are frequently linked by the fine folks at The Bucky Channel.

It's a curious relationship between our sites as we are both simply trying to provide our readers with more content that we feel they would be interested in reading. The reason we have this kind of relationship with them is because, honestly, they were some of the first people to help us out when we were new to the blogging game, and we did the same for them. And neither of us has forgotten it.

So, as you wipe those sentimental tears away, we're proud to say that we have played a small part in what is becoming The Bucky Channel 2.0. Regular Bucky Channel readers will notice a change in layout, and that change will come with a whole new staff of writers joining the team.

And we are one of them... kind of.

As we have done in the past, we'll be providing content through a semi-regular, semi-forgotten about feature called The Lemmy Channel, in which we look into interesting tidbits relating to their home town teams up in Wisconsin. We'll look at different betting trends as they pertain to the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers (and maybe even the Milwaukee Iron of the Arena Football League) to cater to their readership.

We'll post tidbits about our analysis here, with the main content gracing the pages of The Bucky Channel 2.0.

So welcome, Wisconsinites, for those of you who didn't make it over for the first few installments of The Lemmy Channel. Please bring your finest beers and cheeses to Stock Lemon (or donate some cash to us using the Paypal icon on the left, so that we can purchase our own!).

2009 NBA Mock Draft: Picks 9-10

The guards keep flying off the board as our 2009 NBA Mock Draft keeps flying by. The real draft takes place on Thursday, but until then make sure to check back as we continue to mock the 14 lottery picks in this year's NBA Draft.

9. Raptors: Demar DeRozan, G, USC

Even at the ninth pick, DeRozan is one of the most talented players in this draft. DeRozan has all the athletic ability in the world and is a steal here for the Raptors, who don't mind adding another versatile wing. The main knock on DeRozan has been his ability to want to dominate rather than simply be a good player. He has loads of untapped potential but some wonder if his lackluster work ethic will ever turn him into the player he could be. Still, at pick No. 9, DeRozan is worth the selection.

10. Bucks: Jonny Flynn, G, Syracuse

Many know Flynn as the leader of the six overtime game Syracuse played this season, and that certainly has helped his draft stock in the past few months. The Bucks would like to know him as the leader of their team, despite his small size. Flynn can make things happen offensively, and enjoys playing on the defensive end--a requirement for any player with the new Bucks regime. He should be able to overcome his small stature and develop into one of the better point guards in the league, even if he looks to score more than he looks to pass.

Our 2009 NBA Lottery Mock Draft will continue on Monday with more of our surely accurate predictions. Until then, be sure to check out the previous entries in the upper right hand side of this blog.

Special Edition of The Lemmy Channel

Everybody's favorite program is back for a special edition. This week on The Lemmy Channel, our friends at The Bucky Channel linked to our 2009 NFL Mock Draft to see what we had to say on their hometown Packers pick.

Rather than use this space to re-hash what we said in this post, we thought we'd alert you to a cool little game they're playing over at The Bucky Channel called Bucks Survivor

It's an obvious take on the hit show, Survivor, but in TBC's version they allow their readers to vote off members of the Milwaukee Bucks. The team is split into two "tribes," with immunity granted to one player on that week's losing tribe. You don't have to be a Bucks fan to vote off your least favorite players of the team, so go ahead and check them out and follow the hit game that is sweeping the nation.

While you're over there, be sure to leave a comment urging The Bucky Channel to join twitter. Here's what they said last month about the social networking craze:

Twitter sucks so much, it's a stupid trend that is pointless and stupid and doesn't contribute anything beneficial to society and is a waste of time and will fade out within six months and is not worth the trouble to either update or check out people's Twitters. How people are making money off of something so stupid blows my brains and now I must move on before I quit doing The Bucky Channel right this very moment, that is how much I hate Twitter.
And, of course, be sure to follow Lemmy's twitter account if you aren't already.

The Lemmy Channel Moves Into Prime Time

Nevermind the ratings success of the Super Bowl, we've got our own Smash hit right here. Judging by the fantastic comments by yoga and meditation and aftershave balm on our last Lemmy Channel post, we can tell that the readers are just loving The Lemmy Channel, which is why we have moved it into prime time!

This week on The Lemmy Channel, we tell you why you should fade the Milwaukee Bucks, the hometown team up in Wisconsin.

We also advise The Bucky Channel's readers to stop by and check out our Pro Bowl pick before participating in TBC's 2nd annual Pro Bowl Live Blog on February 8 at 3:30 central time.

We'll do the opposite here and advise you to participate in TBC's 2nd annual Pro Bowl Live Blog on February 8 at 3:30 central time after checking out our pick here at Stock Lemon.

Stop on by The Bucky Channel for more on Wisconsin sports as well as, before we forget to mention it, their 2nd annual Pro Bowl Live Blog on February 8 at 3:30 central time.

Special MLK Edition of The Lemmy Channel

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., who once said, "I have a dream, that the Lemmy Channel will air a special Monday edition in honor of me," we have done just that.

This week, Lemmy is airing a day early at The Bucky Channel, in order to give some advice on tonight's game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers.

As always, you'll have to go over to The Bucky Channel to see what advice Lemmy has for the folks up in Wisconsin. Or, over in Wisconsin.

Over and out.

The Lemmy Channel Is Back For Season Two!

It's official: The Lemmy Channel has been renewed for another season after copying The Office by airing just a few episodes in its first run.

If you're unfamiliar with The Lemmy Channel, it's a weekly posting by Lemmy and the rest of us at Stock Lemon invading The Bucky Channel's turf.

Since we focus on sports wagering and The Bucky Channel focuses on Wisconsin sports, The Lemmy Channel is about The World of Sports Wagering from Wisconsin's perspective.

As we did back in April with the Milwaukee Brewers, we'll take a look at some of the betting trends surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks.

Tune in to the rest of the Season Two Premiere right here on The Bucky Channel.

Non-Cavs Free NBA Picks Continue to Struggle

We have another non-Cleveland Cavalier Free NBA Pick tonight, so play with caution.

Milwaukee Bucks +1.5 over the Golden State Warriors

Some injuries for the Warriors make this one a favorable match-up for the Bucks, even on the road.

Good luck--you'll need it.

Top Two NBA Off-Season Moves

Last year our Free NBA Picks went 40-20, which is an impressive 67%. We must admit, that didn't happen by accident.

Our Free NBA Picks system is a complicated formula which ranks teams offensive and defensive performances and determines which spreads have the most value. But as much attention as we pay to the NBA regular season, we pay even more to the off-season. During this time, we get a real solid idea of which teams might surprise the league (and the bookies) in the upcoming season.

That said, here are our two biggest off-season moves that could turn teams around in the NBA.

1. Bucks steal Richard Jefferson from Nets

By getting rid of a bad contract (Bobby Simmons) and arguably a bad player (Yi Jianlian) and adding one of the top small forwards in the game, the Bucks have improved drastically and should be a force to reckon with in the weak Eastern Conference. Despite the addition, they are still likely to fly under the radar due to a horrible 2007-08 season, so there should be plenty of opportunities to win some bucks on the Bucks.

2. Artest the missing piece in Houston

Houston, we have a problem-child. But we also have an extremely talented player. The Kings were nearly forced to part ways with Artest, and the Rockets made a great low-risk, high-reward investment. With the addition of Artest, the Rockets have a big three comparable to the NBA champion Boston Celtics. Artest and Tracy McGrady, along with a healthy Yao Ming, should compete for a spot in the NBA Finals.

Wizards are the Play

Our Free NBA Picks have hit a bit of a rough patch, but are still hitting 65% on the year at 32-17. We have on small play tonight.

Washington Wizards -9.5 over the Milwaukee Bucks

The Wizards may be without a few players, namely Caron Butler, but they will have Antawn Jamison to exploit Desmond Mason and the rest of the Bucks lackluster defense.

Besides, the Bucks are so bad on the road that it doesn't really matter who the Wizards throw out on the court.

Good luck and let's get back on track!

Bucks Cover Makes it Eight in a Row!

The Bucks weren't able to pull out a victory at home against the Spurs tonight, but they're winners in our books. Since they lost by just two points, they covered the +6 1/2 point spread, giving us our eighth consecutive Free NBA Pick victory.

These picks are on an unbelievable hot streak, and are now 22-9 overall, which is an impressive 71%. We look to continue this success throughout the month of March, so stay with us as we bring you more winners--for free!

Arkansas is the Pick Today

The game tips off shortly, so we thought we'd get our pick in quick.

Arkansas Razorbacks -6 1/2 over the Vanderbilt Commodores

We do not have any Free NBA Picks as of yet, but we are strongly considering the Milwaukee Bucks +6 1/2 over the San Antonio Spurs. We have a busy day of paperwork in front of us and may not be able to make it back to a computer before the game, so simply consider it a strong lean and look into the game further on your own.

Good luck!

UPDATE: We are taking the Milwaukee Bucks as an official Free NBA Pick tonight. Good luck and let's get eight in a row!

Pistons Make it Five in a Row

With a 127-100 pounding of the Bucks, the Pistons gave our Free NBA Picks their fifth consecutive win, boosting the record to 19-9, or just about 68%. What's more, all three wins since the All-Star Game have been blowout victories, including tonight's easy cover of the -12 spread.

Tayshaun Prince and the Pistons took care of Charlie Villanueva and the Bucks without too much of a problem, and for all intents and purposes had this one won by halftime.

The Picks are hotter than ever, so check back daily as the winners keep on coming. As a matter of fact, go ahead and bookmark this page for the easiest access to the winners.

Pistons Have Good Value Tonight

Our Free NBA Picks are hitting nearly 67% at 18-9, including a four game winning streak, and we expect the streak to continue with another winner tonight.

Detroit Pistons -12 over the Milwaukee Bucks

These two teams met in Milwaukee on Wednesday and the struggling Bucks pulled out a surprise victory, so Chauncey Billups and the Pistons should be ready to extract revenge on Mo Williams and the Bucks as the teams head back to Detroit tonight.

Monday, February 11, 2008

Free NBA Pick

Our Free NBA Picks are hitting nearly 64% and we look to improve on that again tonight with another pick.

Milwaukee Bucks -3 1/2 over the Los Angeles Clippers

Once again we are fading the dismal Clippers and we will continue to do so if it keeps putting money in our pockets, even if it means betting on a struggling team like the Bucks. The Bucks won the first meeting against Chris Kaman's Clippers on the road and they should fare even better at home, where they are a respectable 13-9 this season. Additionally, Michael Redd and Yi Jianlian are both back from injuries that have contributed to the team's recent struggles, so the full-strength Bucks should have a clear advantage tonight.

Two Free NBA Picks

It's been a while since the computer has really liked a pick enough for us to consider it a Free NBA Pick, which are 9-4 in their last 13, but the wait is over today with two plays.

Philadelphia 76ers +2 over the Washington Wizards

Memphis Grizzlies -3 1/2 over the Milwaukee Bucks

Good luck!

Raptors Cover, too

The Free NBA Picks are off to a 2-0 start tonight after the Raptors covered the 9 1/2 point spread in a blow out win over the Bucks.

Four Free NBA Picks Today

It's rare to have more than one free nba pick, but today we have a grand total of four! The computer likes the heavy favorites today. Here are the picks:

Washington Wizards -8 over Memphis Grizzlies

Toronto Raptors -9 1/2 over Milwaukee Bucks

Boston Celtics -13 over Minnesota Timberwolves

Denver Nuggets -8 over New Jersey Nets

Good luck!

Free NBA Pick

We have one NBA pick today as well, although this is also a small lean in comparison to the regular computer picks.

Indiana Pacers +5 1/2 over Milwaukee Bucks

Remember it is just a small lean, so a one unit play will suffice.
