Where Will LeBron James Land in Free Agency?

The biggest free agent period in the history of the NBA is underway, so what are the odds that LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh or one of the other big free agent names lands with your favorite team?

Well, as a matter of fact, if LeBron James is your target, here are the odds that he lands in Chicago, Cleveland, Miami, New York or New Jersey:

Bulls
+300 (or 3 to 1)

Cavaliers
-200 (or 1 to 2)

Heat
+450 (or 9 to 2)

Knicks
+500 (or 5 to 1)

Nets
+700 (or 7 to 1)

Our guess? We like those +700 odds for New Jersey (soon to be Newark soon to be Brooklyn). It's close enough to the big city of New York and the life that comes with it, but more importantly, billionaire Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov offers LeBron his best shot at becoming a global icon. That, and it's +700! Considering that nobody really knows what LBJ is thinking, why not go big or go home on this one?

One thing is for sure, it should be an interesting weekend!

Two, yes two, Free NBA Picks Tonight

Our Free NBA Picks have started this season with very sporadic plays, but tonight we have two whole picks!

Pistons -4 over the Clippers

Good luck!

Shaq Finds Out He's Traded Through Twitter

ESPN is reporting that Shaquille O'Neal has been traded from the Suns to the Cavs in exchange for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic, which, of course, is news to Shaq.

Apparently, Shaq first heard about the ordeal through some twitter friends of his. Click the picture to enlarge the twitter chat log that took place.

If Only the Cavs Had a Super Bowl Prop Bet...

The Super Bowl has sort of gotten in the way of our picks lately (not the worse thing in some cases), but it's time for another Free NBA Pick.

Cavs -14 over the Kings

The Cavs are 20-0 at home this season and are one of the best teams against the spread in the NBA this year. It comes as no suprise, then, that even when our Free NBA Picks were struggling, we are 4-0 when betting on the Cavs.

In 2009, the Free NBA Picks are 3-1, so hopefully they have returned to form.

Good luck and enjoy a break from Super Bowl prop bet coverage!

Cavaliers Cover... Again

We might as well scrap our Free NBA Picks system and just tail the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Our Free NBA Picks are 2-1 since our re-release, and despite our early struggles, they are 4-0 when we bet on the Cavs.

It's no coincidence, of course. The Cavs, who beat the Hornets 92-78 tonight to cover a -3 spread, are 27-11 against the spread this year including 16-4 ATS at home. It helps that they are 31-7 on the season and 20-0 at home straight up.

Either way, we might foolishly start to force a few plays when they have any value at all, rather than stick to our thus far disappointing system.

Free NBA Picks Turn to the Cavs Again

We're a little late with this one, but get on it if you still can.

Cavaliers -3 over Hornets

Our Free NBA Picks are 3-0 when betting the Cavs, and hopefully we can add to that tonight.

Good luck!

Jazz Trying to Save Free NBA Picks

Our Free NBA Picks, as we might have mentioned, started the year off horribly except for when we backed the Cavaliers, who went 3-0 when our system called upon them.

After a short hiatus, our Free NBA Picks returned with a cover by the Utah Jazz. Now, we're trying to make the Jazz our new Cavs. You guessed it, the Jazz are a pick again tonight.

Jazz -10 over the Pacers

Our system happens to see a lot of value in Utah again, so we'll see what happens. For now, keep playing this picks with caution. As we've said before, they really hit their stride in about late January when the sample size of the statistical data we use is sufficient enough to produce some wins. Hopefully, we're approaching that point.

Good luck!

Time For Our Free NBA Picks to Take a Break

Despite a nice slate of NBA games tonight, and what looks like some decent plays from our Free NBA Picks system, we're holding off on these picks for now.

We've got some numbers to crunch in regards to this system, which only seems to be correct when it comes to betting on the Cleveland Cavaliers. While we could just try and ride the Cavs all season, we somehow doubt that it would be what you could consider sustainable betting.

We'll tinker with the stats that we use for our picks, but we'll keep the original formula in tact and keep a constant eye on it, since we really started getting hot (and posting our plays online) starting in about late January when the sample sizes for the year were much bigger.

Stay tuned. We should have some new NBA leans later this week.

Non-Cavs Free NBA Picks Continue to Struggle

We have another non-Cleveland Cavalier Free NBA Pick tonight, so play with caution.

Milwaukee Bucks +1.5 over the Golden State Warriors

Some injuries for the Warriors make this one a favorable match-up for the Bucks, even on the road.

Good luck--you'll need it.

Another Big NBA Favorite

Our Free NBA Picks like another double digit favorite tonight as they try to improve on their record when we don't bet on the Cavaliers.

Lakers -11 over the Kings

Good luck!

Cavs Keeping Free NBA Picks Afloat

For the third time this year, the Cavaliers were a Free NBA Pick. For the third time this year, the Cavaliers delivered a victory.

With a 97-73 win over the Pacers, the Cavs made it easy on us, covering the -11 spread without a problem.

Our Free NBA Picks are off to an absolutely horrible start, especially considering they were 40-20 last year (67%). We expect them to pick up as they did in the second half of last season when the statistical data we use has a bigger sample size, but for now, just awful.

Take a look at the numbers for this season:
Cleveland Cavs as a Free NBA Pick: 3-0
29 other teams as a Free NBA Pick: 1-8
Overall record: 4-8

Unreal. 1-8! A lot of cappers are having a tough time with the beginning of the 2008-09 season, but we've caught a lot of bad breaks to start the year.

We hope you stick with us through these tough times. We fully expect these picks to rebound, but for now, you might want to be careful when we bet on 29 of the 30 teams in the NBA.

Another Cavs Free NBA Pick

It seems like our Free NBA Picks really have been favoring the Cleveland Cavaliers this year.

Maybe it's because they are 15-3, or maybe because they have one of the best players in the game in LeBron James, but whatever it is, the system likes them again tonight.

Cleveland Cavaliers -11 over Indiana Pacers

So get used to the Cavs as a Free NBA Pick--until 2010 anyway.

Cavs Come Through... Again

Once again, we took the Cavs at -6. Once again, they covered and won easily. Maybe we should stick to Cleveland.

The Cavs beat the Nets 106-82, giving us what looks to be, unfortunately, a 1-1 night. Hopefully our posting this at halftime of the Lakers/Bulls game will put some kind of jinx on the teams and they'll stop scoring and hit the under, which isn't even close at the moment.

We're going to enjoy this time, since for about an hour and a half longer, we're looking at a perfect 1-0 night.

Cavs Are a Free NBA Pick... Again

Though we've had just four Free NBA Picks so far, we've twice bet on the Cleveland Cavaliers (once in an over and once against the spread). We won the last time we bet on Cleveland at -6, so why not do it once more?

Cavaliers -6 over the Nets

Additionally, we have a total for tonight.

Bulls/Lakers UNDER 202

The reason for the under is that the last five times the Bulls over/under was listed as 190 or above, they've gone under. All three times they've gone under when it's been set at 200 or above. If that's not enough, the last nine times the Bulls and Lakers have met, they've gone under. Our system generally churns out more sides than totals, and if we were to choose one of these picks it would be the Cavs, but we're still putting the same amount of units on each--as we do with all our plays.

Good luck!

Cavs Come Through

Our Free NBA Picks have struggled out of the gates, but we got our first victory of the season tonight with the Cavs beating the Nuggets 110-99 to cover the -6 spread.

Just to remind everyone, and to brag a little bit, these picks went 40-20 last year, which is 67%, and are all documented on this very Stock Lemon site for the non-believers. We have no reason to believe the numbers will be any different this year.

Stay with us throughout the NBA season to see for yourself.

LeBron Over Carmelo Tonight

We have one Free NBA Pick for tonight.

LeBron James and the Cavs -6 over Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets

Good luck!

The NBA is Back!

Our Free NBA Picks went 40-20 last year, which is 67%, and we hope to continue that success this year. These picks are our bread and butter, and we're excited to have them back for the 2008-09 season.

It all starts tonight with an over/under.

Cleveland Cavaliers/Boston Celtics OVER 179 1/2

We like LeBron James and the Cavs to get in a shootout with the defending champs tonight. Though the Celtics won the NBA Finals last year with defense, it's opening day so we expect some sloppiness on that end, and our numbers agree.

Get it now before the line jumps up!

Good luck!

There's Still No Place Like Home

We have one Free NBA Playoff Pick for Sunday, and if you've been following us through most of the second round, you might already know who our numbers favor.

Boston Celtics -7.5 over the Cleveland Cavaliers

Our system has really caught on to the trends of the second round, and it's payed off. Home teams are 21-2 in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, and Boston is 7-0 at home through the first two rounds, so this -7.5 spread shouldn't be too troubling.

Our Free NBA Picks are 8-2 in their last ten games, and we expect to continue that hot streak.

Good luck!

Cavs Make it Five in a Row!

Another second round NBA playoff game, another victorious home team. With a 74-69 win by the Cavaliers over the Celtics, the home teams in the second round are now 21-1 straight up! More importantly, we've finally been picking some of those winners.

Thanks to LeBron James and the Cavs shooting all over Paul Pierce and the Celtics, Cleveland covered the -3 spread and knocked the Celtics to 0-6 overall on the road in the playoffs.

After a slow start to the playoffs, Our Free NBA Picks have now won five straight, and are 8-2 in the last 10. Slow start might be an understatement. We like to toot our own horns here, but we're also not trying to fool anyone--these picks were struggling. After hitting 67% in the regular season, we began the playoffs just 3-9. No, that's not a typo. Hopefully you stuck with us, as we've finally crawled back to .500 in the playoffs. The Free NBA Picks are finally back to where we except them to be, so tell your friends to come along for the ride!

Here's a record update for the Free NBA Picks this year:

Regular Season: 40-20... 67%
Playoffs: 11-11... 50% (finally heating up)
Overall: 51-31... 62%
Last 10: 8-2... 80%
Current Streak: W5

Sticking With the Home Team

In a similar situation to last night, we're going with a team that was in the NBA Finals last year and is facing elimination at home. With the home teams compiling an insane record of 20-1 in the second round, and with the Celtics a grand total of 0-5 on the road in the playoffs, our gut matches our Free NBA Pick numbers.

Cleveland Cavaliers -3 over the Boston Celtics

Anyone remember the dunk LeBron James had on Kevin Garnett the last time these two met up in Cleveland? Expect more of that tonight, as LeBron and his mom take down the Boston Three Party. Our Free NBA Picks have won seven of nine, so get them while they're hot!

Good luck!
