Undefeated Free NCAA Football Bowl Picks Look to Strike Again

We usually like to get our picks out earlier, but nonetheless, we have a pick in the Chick-fil-A bowl tonight.

South Carolina -3 over Florida State

We don't think Christian Ponder will play well coming off of an injury (it's still possible he doesn't play at all).

So far in the bowl season, our Free NCAA Football Picks are 4-0.

Free NCAA Football Bowl Picks Start to Roll

While we haven't had as many Free NCAA Football Bowl Picks as we would have liked (isn't that the case with all of our picks?), what we've had have been good. Real good.

Our Free NCAA Football Picks improved to 3-0 with Oklahoma State taking care of a -4 1/2 point spread as OK State, Illinois and Maryland all blew away their opponents in another crappy day of bowl games. And we have no college football playoffs because...?

Aside from our 3-0 record in bowls, we also picked all three of those winners straight up over at The Bucky Channel, improving our bowl picks record to 7-6 over there, tied with the Bucky. And yes, we are better at picking games with a point spread.

And would you look at that... we have a Free NCAA Football Bowl Pick for today!

North Carolina -1 over Tennessee

Check out the latest installment of Lemmy and Bucky Pick the Bowls to see our (brief) explanation for this pick.

Finally Another Free NCAA Football Bowl Pick

We certainly expected to have more college football action flowing at this time, and yet have played just two bowl games as Free NCAA Football Picks.

As you might have guessed by, say, the title of this post, we finally have another.

Oklahoma State -4 1/2 over Arizona

Good luck!

Just Two Free NFL Picks Sunday

Our Free NFL Picks have been on a disturbing two-week losing streak and we are ready to snap out of our egg nog haze and deliver some post-Christmas winners. Unfortunately, as it stands, we have just two plays this Sunday, both involving the playoff race in the NFC.

Jets +1 over the Bears

Packers -3 over the Giants

Again, if it means posting more pictures of Jets girl and Favre-lover Jenn Sterger, we are all for it.

Good luck!

Jesus, Stock Lemon Celebrate Christmas Birthday

We try to compare ourselves to Jesus Christ as little as possible, but today, the similarities are unavoidable.

Regardless of whether or not you believe in Jesus or Santa our Free Picks, today we celebrate our third birthday here at Stock Lemon. Our Christmas day beginnings started innocently enough, with an early morning post on Christmas 2007. Our intentions were vague, and we had no idea what we would become or even what we were at the time. But here we are, three years in, and ready for another three years of birthday posts on Christmas morning.

So thank you for being here and following us through the wins and losses. And here's to more of the former in the future.

Happy Holidays.

Our Bowl Picks Continue Over at The Bucky Channel

Christmas time is here, and it comes with the greatest gift of all... the continuation of our bowl picks over at The Bucky Channel.

If you've been following, which we are sure you have been, you were able to hit on our Bucky Channel exclusive Free NCAA Football Pick, when Boise State improved our Free NCAA Football bowl picks to 2-0.

Our picks straight up haven't had as much success... which is why we pick spreads. Again, as a reminder, our straight up picks over at The Bucky Channel are purely for fun and not system plays. And we promise not to have anymore exclusive Free NCAA Football Picks over there. From now on, any and all picks, as they always have been, will be posted right here at Stock Lemon.

But still, check out The Bucky Channel.

A Perfect Saturday

A Quick update from yesterday's action:

Goal: Remain perfect with our Free NHL Picks.
Pick: Tampa Bay ML over Buffalo
Check.

Goal: Start our Free NCAA Football Picks perfect in bowl season.
Pick: Troy -2 over Ohio
Check.

And so, our Free NHL Picks remain a perfect 3-0 while our Free NCAA Football Bowl Picks are off to a perfect 1-0 start.

Lou Reed would be proud.

Another Small Free NFL Card (60%)

Three is a magic number for our Free NFL Picks. We've had late season success with these in small doses, but try to force it and play, say, four games, and you saw what happened last week.

We're back to three picks as we try to stay above 60%.

Colts -5 over Jaguars

Texans +1 over Titans

Cowboys -7 over Redskins

Rooting for the state of Texas this week. Good luck!

Our 100% Accurate Free NHL Picks Return!

It's been about a week (read: too long) since our last Free NHL Pick, so we haven't been able to build off of our 2-0 start on the ice this season.

Part of our system requires us to stay disciplined, but certainly we would like to have more picks at this point. There is no sense in being 100% and only betting on two games all year, right?

Finally, though, we have a third game today on this busy hockey Saturday.

Tampa Bay Lightning ML -130 over the Buffalo Sabres

Good luck!

Stock Lemon and The Bucky Channel Go Bowling!

We are going to continue with this bowling pun so long as we continue to find pictures of hot girls bowling. But to be clear, it is bowl season in college football and we like this time of year about as much as we like girls bowling in bikinis.

While our Free NCAA Football Pick system should have quite a bit of plays during the bowl slate (like tonight's New Orleans Bowl), we won't have a play on every game. To fill the void, we will be picking every game straight up over at The Bucky Channel.

Check out our first installment of the collaborative effort between our brothers from different mothers over at The Bucky Channel.

You'll notice that, when we turned our picks in a few days ago, we thought BYU might be a Free NCAA Football Pick. Well, now you know why. It turns out it didn't fully meet our criteria, but definitely was a strong lean.

Let the Bowl Season Begin!

It's officially time to go bowling! (And who knew we could find so many pictures of cute girls in bowling alleys. The sport apparently isn't reserved for The Dude.)

Saturday brings the beginning of the college football playoffs... er... bowl season, with three games kicking off tomorrow. We have a Free NCAA Football Pick on one of them.

Before we reveal our pick, we're going to reveal our plan this bowl season. Like we said earlier, we won't have a play on every game--but we still will pick every game straight up for amusement's sake--with a catch.

In a collaborative effort with our friends over at The Bucky Channel, we'll provide our picks in a friendly little competition with them to see who has a better grasp on horrible teams playing each other for 30 bowl games plus five good games.

One of the reasons we bring this up, aside from the fact that we were going to anyway, is that since The Bucky Channel crew has shipped off to Boston for the Packers-Patriots game, we were asked to turn in our Saturday picks a bit early. We hinted at BYU being a possible Free NCAA Football Pick, which it turns out will not be. We just wanted to make that clear.

So what will be the Free NCAA Football Pick on this the first Saturday of bowl action? We're glad you asked. You need not look any further than Saturday night's New Orleans bowl.

Troy -2 over Ohio

Happy bowling and be sure to check back throughout bowl season as we look to finish the college football year with a bang.

Almost Time to go Bowling with Free College Football Bowl Picks

College bowl season is almost upon us, and as much as we (and everyone else on the planet) hate that there is playoff system in college football, we still love to go bowling this time of year with some Free NCAA Football Picks.

In an up-and-down regular season for our Free NCAA Football Picks, we at least managed to stay above .500 with a 52% record. Obviously, we are looking for better results in the postseason. We will not have a pick on every game, but we should have plenty action as we do tend to loosen up our system a bit for the bowl games. But just because this is the season of giving doesn't mean that we plan on filling our bookies stockings.

Though we won't pick every game against the spread, we will have a pick on every game straight up (more on this coming in the next couple days).

Stay tuned for our first of many Free NCAA Football Bowl Picks, as well as more Free NHL Picks in the coming days.

Can We Blame the Snow?

Well, that was a crazy week.

Crazy because the roof of the Metrodome completely caved in. Crazy because our fourth and final Free NFL Picks was delayed to Monday night in one of the more bizarre scenarios ever played out in the NFL. Crazy because, for the second time this season, we suffered a losing week.

So, like every week, let us start our post off with excuses. Who could have predicted the wild circumstances to the Giants/Vikings game when we made our pick on Saturday? Who could have predicted (even though many did) that Brett Favre actually wouldn't play, even with an extra day of rest? The answer, unfortunately, is not us.

Our Free NFL Picks went 1-3, plummeting them down to 60% on the season. We wanted to stop the presses on our final pick, the Vikings to win Monday night, but had already made it and felt it unfair to retract it from our blog. We could have hedged it, but where is the fun in that.

So we stuck with it, and predictably, we lost. So we'll blame the snow, chalk this up as a fluke week (when we've only had one other losing week, we have the privilege of doing so) and move forward to try and stay about that 60% gambling Mendoza line.

The NFL is a grind, whether you play, coach, or sit on your ass and watch from your coach while wagering on the sport. Sometimes, it is tough sledding. Sometimes, it's okay to blame the snow.

We just can't let it happen again, and we're determined not to let it.

More Jenn Sterger and More Free NFL Picks (63% YTD)

We promise we don't just pick the Jets in games so that we have an excuse to post pictures of Brett Favre's girlfriend Jenn Sterger. They simply fit in with our system, getting high marks in the "potential to post picture of hot girls" category. We are a slave to the system... as we should be. We have hit 63% of our Free NFL Picks this year, which is right about where we want to be (obviously we always want to be higher, but 63% is a respectable mark).

And so we will hope to keep that up with four picks on Sunday.

Jets -6 over the Dolphins

Vikings +3 over the Giants

Packers -7 over the Lions

Redskins +3 over the Buccaneers

Good luck!

Stock Lemon's 1,000th Post: Celebrating Another Free NHL Pick Victory

We aren't one for blog milestones, but as we went to publish the fact that our Free NHL Picks have started the year at 2-0, we realized this was post 1,000 here at Stock Lemon.

We know that some blogs might make 1,000 posts in a month or week or even day, but for us, that is somewhat of a lot of posts. We will celebrate our third birthday here on December 25th (the same day as Jesus!), as we made our first post in the wee hours of Christmas morning, 2007.

In addition to celebrating with a 100% perfect Free NHL Picks record (we are going to gloat about that as long as we can), we'd also like to celebrate post 1,000 with a random picture of a very sexy nurse. Enjoy!

No college football action tomorrow but you can be sure we will be back with more 63% Free NFL Picks, even if only a few as has been the case lately.

Free NHL Picks Look to Remain Perfect!

As our sensationalist headline suggests, we did indeed earn a victory in our first Free NHL Pick of the season earlier this week. We still aren't sure what kind of frequency these picks will churn up, but already we have one tonight. If you're willing to lay the chalk.

L.A. Kings ML -165 over the Calgary Flames

We don't like to lay this much juice, but early in our system we are going to go ahead and play it and see how it goes.

Good luck!

Your 2010 Heisman Trophy Winner Will Be...

Scam Newton!

Oh, relax. The best things in life are always scams.

In actuality, we do think Cam Newton should win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday. Make no mistake, he will. If you can find a book that still is taking bets on Newton to win it, he should throw your life savings, first born, right arm and a pack of Skittles on that bet. He was clearly the best player and, let's be honest, he probably isn't even the highest paid player in NCAA Football.

But while most books don't have odds on the Heisman winner anymore, you can still find odds on who will finish second. And this, to us, is almost as much of a no-brainer.

Here are the current odds for second place:

Andrew Luck -140
LaMichael James +110
Kellen Moore +1000

If not for Newton absolutely dominating the game of football for the last couple months, more and more people would be gushing over Andrew Luck. While Newton may be the best of the college ranks, we think Luck will be the better pro (this is a good time to get those super early NFL Draft bets in). Luck is almost a shoe-in for the first overall pick of the draft, much like Newton is a shoe-in to win the Heisman.

To summarize: It would take a lot of bad Luck if Andrew isn't the runner-up for the Heisman, and if you can still put money on Cam Newton winning the thing, do it. We all know his dad already did.

Duck Yes! Free NHL Picks Are 100%!

So far, so good for our newly unveiled Free NHL Picks system. The Anahiem Ducks defeated the Edmonton Oilers in an exciting 10-round shootout to ensure that our Free NHL Picks got off on the right webbed foot. And we intend on maintaining this 100% AT LEAST until tomorrow.

We weren't kidding about the long process involved with getting our Free NHL Picks up to speed. It's not like we are just randomly picking games based off what some internet forums say. We put over a month into our data spreadsheet that we use for these picks and it has payed off in our first attempt.

In the grand scheme of things, 1-0 is hardly anything to be proud of. It's one game, after all. Still, it's nice to see hard work rewarded with a victory the first time out.

Plenty more pucks coming your way here at Stock Lemon, be it money line or puck lines (Canadian lines). Stay with us as more and more hockey begins to grace the pages of Stock Lemon throughout the next few months.

Time For Our First 2010-11 Free NHL Pick!

The wait is over! You know, for those of you who have been waiting.

It's time for us to debut our Free NHL Picks. A little more than a month after the season started and our system is finally ready. Or so we hope. So let's get the puck to it!

Ducks -105 ML over the Oilers

Good luck!

The 2011 Super Bowl XLV (45) Countdown Begins!

For those of you who have been following our site through the years (so old and wise are we), you know that things get a little crazy around Super Bowl time. Through our extensive research conducting prop bet analysis, which leads to copious amounts of new visitors and traffic spikes, it's the one time every year that we actually feel like a real website.

Most of our time is spent on our free picks, with somewhat little effort going into the actual posting of said picks to our blog. That is not the case around Super Bowl time, as we provide readers with something they apparently crave--actual content!

Given that we are currently typing our third paragraph of this post, you can see just how near Super Bowl season already is!

Now, there is a lot of time before the Super--two months to the day. So before kickoff on February 6, 2011 in Dallas, Texas, we'll have plenty of non-Super Bowl related posts, including the debut of our not-very-anticipated Free NHL Picks and an exciting and hopefully profitable college bowl season.

But make no mistake, from this point forward it is Super Bowl season here at Stock Lemon. There are just four weeks of regular season NFL action ahead, with teams jockeying for position to earn a spot in the biggest sporting event of the year.

As in the past, our proposition betting analysis will cover the ordinary, such as yardage benchmarks for key players, to the goofier, off-the-wall prop bets that the Super Bowl has become known for among degenerates and commonfolk alike. We'll look into the coin toss being heads or tails, the National Anthem going over or under a certain time limit, the color Gatorade likely to be dumped on the winning coach, etc. And this year, we plan on even more.

So stay with us through our weekly picks, knowing that much bigger things, namely 2011 Super Bowl XLV (45), are ahead. And once again, we will be the main squeeze on Super Bowl XLV (45) proposition betting and wagering.

Adding to Our 2010 Football Winnings...

...slightly.

Our Free NCAA Football Picks continued their limp into the season's end, going 2-2 and finishing the regular season at 56-52-1 (52%). One very bad week really derailed us and we didn't full recover at the end of the year. All things considered, we can live with losing just a little bit of juice this season and hope for a kinder bowl season.

Our Free NFL Picks continued doing what we've been doing lately--wimping out with only three picks but winning two out of those three. Another 2-1 week in the NFL puts us at 63% with four regular season weeks remaining.

Football season (our favorite time of year) is coming to an end, but not before going out with a bang. And with football's end means more time for hockey as we debut our 2010-11 Free NHL Picks likely within the week.

Free NFL Picks Look to Continue Winning Ways (62%)

Though the plays have been sporadic these last few weeks, we've been able to muster up an 8-4 record with our Free NFL Picks following our lone losing week of the season. Here's hoping to more of that today with some favorites.

Seahawks -5 over Panthers

Vikings -5 1/2 over Bills

Colts -6 over Cowboys

Good luck!

Let's Close Out the Free NCAA Football Pick Regular Season

And so, it ends.

After all of that, we are barely better off than we were when we started in September. This college football season has been a memorable one, with plenty of ups and downs to go with it. After a promising start, a mysterious struggle, a return to prominence, a mind-blowingly horrible week, and then a period of reverting to the mean, our Free NCAA Football Picks are just over .500 as we enter championship weekend.

Sure, bowl season could change our college football fortunes--for better or worse--but for now, we are what we are. Slightly better than .500 and only slightly better than you, Mr. Everyday who hasn't tried making sports betting blog into a full-time gig. That is not a good thing.

But, while we are far short of our 60 percent goal, at least our numbers are positive for now. And hopefully, our small championship card can help us improve upon that.

By the way, usually we try to tie in pictures of hot chicks to our posts. Not this time. These are just two hot chicks not fully clothed.

Auburn/South Carolina OVER 61

Washington -6 over Washington State

Florida Atlantic +5 over Troy

Oklahoma -4 1/2 over Nebraska

Good luck and we look forward to bowling with you all!

Weekend Football Recap

In the event that your weekend was short on beer or women, consider the above picture our gift to you. If your weekend did include both of those things... well... look at the picture anyway. Come on, it's a hot girl wearing nothing but a makeshift keg. What's not to like?

Nothing goes better with beer and women than football, which naturally leads us to our Free Football Picks this weekend. Another small NFL card yielded another winning week, and while we'd like more plays we're not going to force anything either. Our updated NFL records are below:

Free NFL Picks
Week 1: 5-1
Week 2: 6-1
Week 3: 4-4
Week 4: 3-3
Week 5: 4-3
Week 6: 3-3
Week 7: 2-2
Week 8: 3-0
Week 9: 0-2-1
Week 10: 3-2
Week 11: 3-1
Week 12: 2-1
Overall: 38-23-1... 62%

As for the college game, we're ready for bowl season. We'll have a few championship weekend plays but for the most part that 1-7 week just knocked everything out of us. We didn't have a terrible week at 4-3, but the wind has appropriately been knocked out of our sails a bit.

Free NCAA Football Picks
Week 1: 5-4-1
Week 2: 8-4
Week 3: 3-6
Week 4: 4-7
Week 5: 3-6
Week 6: 5-2
Week 7: 5-3
Week 8: 5-3
Week 9: 5-0
Week 10: 3-3
Week Effing 11: 1-7
Week 12: 2-2
Week 13: 4-3
Overall: 54-50-1... 52%

As we mentioned in November, it should be an exciting month here at Stock Lemon, with bowls and holidays and football and, yes, hockey. And sooner than later we'll start getting into our bread and butter--the 2011 Super Bowl 45 from Dallas, Texas.
