We're Ready For the MLB Playoffs

Now that we're one game away from knowing all eight postseason participants, here's a quick look at the match-ups, with our early prediction highlighted in yellow.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs

Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Somebody vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Of course, once the actual playoffs start, we'll take our 63% record and bring back the Free MLB Picks all the way through the World Series.

White Sox Live to Play Another Day

With the White Sox 8-2 victory over the Tigers, Chicago advances to host a one-game playoff with the Twins tomorrow--all made possible thanks to an Alexei Ramirez Grand Slam to break a 2-2 tie.

More importantly, the Sox win gives our Free MLB Picks a 15-9 record since the Summer, which is 63%. Though we didn't have too many plays over that span, we sure made them count.

Remember to make us your home for the 2008 MLB Playoffs, as we'll continue to pick winners all October long.

The Steelers Have the Edge

Even without Willie Parker, if we had to play tonight's Monday Night Football game, the play is the Steelers -6.

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense should be able to overcome a tough Ravens defense tonight.

Enjoy the game.

The White Sox Have Huge Value Today

We haven't had a Free MLB Pick since finishing up our Summer system at 14-9 (61%), but this one is impossible to pass up.

White Sox ML -216 over Tigers

It's a lot of juice to lay but in this unique circumstance you absolutely have to take the Sox. The White Sox have everything to play for tomorrow, while the Tigers probably won't even want to be there.

With a win, the Sox would force a one game playoff--in Chicago--with the division leading Twins to decide who goes on to face the Rays in the playoffs. With a loss, their 2008 season is over. Meanwhile, the Tigers season ends tomorrow either way.

Lay the juice on Ozzie Guillen's troops, they'll get the job done tomorrow and keep their hopes of winning another World Series ring alive.

Saints and Panthers Give Us 2-1 Week in NFL

We hadn't really realized it initially, but we were all about the NFC South this week. We bet on the Panthers to beat the Falcons, then took the Saints to win and the Buccaneers to lose. That's all four NFC South squads accounted for.

So how did it turn out? Our bookies bank accounts went south.

The Saints took it to the 49ers 31-17 to cover a -4 spread, as Drew Brees and New Orleans found a way to get it done in our biggest play of the week. Elsewhere, the Panthers knocked off the Falcons 24-9 to cover the -6 1/2 spread.

We should have stuck with the favorites, though, as the Bucs topped the Packers 30-21. We took the more talented team over the more emotionally invested team (with the death of Bucs' kicker Matt Braynt's infant child earlier this week), and we paid for it.

Still, a 2-1 week still means extra cash in our pockets. Strangely enough, this is the third straight 2-1 week for our Free NFL Picks, following a 3-2 week, so we've had a winning weekend in all four weeks of the young NFL season to date. Our picks are now 9-5 for 64%.

Here's a look at our Free NFL Picks week-by-week:

Week 1: 3-2
Week 2: 2-1
Week 3: 2-1
Week 4: 2-1

Total: 9-5... 64%

Of course, we'll have more Free NFL Picks next weekend--and we'll try to do even better than 2-1.

Saints Highlight Our Free NFL Picks Today

Sunday is here and we have three Free NFL Picks for you today. Our biggest of the three plays is Reggie Bush and the Saints running by the 49ers at home, but the other two plays look solid as well.

Saints -4 over 49ers

Panthers -6.5 over Falcons

Packers +1 over Buccaneers

Good luck!

Changes Ahead For Free NCAA Football Picks

On what was a crazy upset-filled Saturday, we were on the wrong side of a lot of college football games, so our plan of attack for the near future will be to play less games with higher value.

So far this year, we've been playing a lot of games even if the Free NCAA Football pick system indicates that they aren't too strong of a play. From this point forward, we will be much more picky with our picks.

Stay with us, as there are brighter times on the horizon in the world of college football, and much more money to be won.

Time For a Blitz

It's the weekend, which means plenty of football, be it NCAA or NFL. With Football comes blitzing, and we've got a blitz for you.

It's The Bob Mantz Blitz, one of many new additions to the Lemmy's Friends section on the right-hand column. We recently found out about this site, and we have to admit, we're hooked. Bob Mantz is a former MMA fighter (and he has the scars to prove it) and runs the Blitz, which, as advertised, offers breaking sports news, opinion, rumor and satire. He also has some nice things to say about us.

So go ahead, check out his site, but consider his fighting background before making any inappropriate comments.

As for us, you might have noticed some changes to the site, aside from the increased blogroll, most noticeably our new lemon-filled header. We've also eliminated some advertising and borders to give the site a cleaner and easier-to-read look.

We hope you enjoy Bob's site as well as the changes we've made to ours, and more importantly, we hope you enjoy what should turn out to be a profitable weekend of football betting.

Two More Saturday Plays

As promised, here our are two biggest plays for Saturday to go with our first three:

LSU -24 over Mississippi State

Purdue +1 1/2 over Notre Dame

Charles Scott and the Tigers should run all over the Bulldogs, and we like Purdue to top the Irish. Good luck and enjoy the weekend.

Three Free NCAA Football Plays This Weekend

We have a big slate of Free NCAA Football plays for this weekend. Here are our first three picks, with two more bigger plays to come.

Miami -7 over North Carolina

Wisconsin -5 1/2 over Michigan

Wake Forest -15 1/2 over Navy

Our Free NCAA Football Picks are 9-7 on the season so far, and we certainly hope to improve upon that Saturday.

Good luck!

Cash Shark Officially Joins Stock Lemon

After a couple of months running his own start-up website based on making money on-line, Cash Shark has finally decided to join Stock Lemon on a more permanent basis.

Both parties decided it would be in their best interests to complete a full merger, with Cash Shark now employed by Stock Lemon. What this means for you is that Cash Shark will no longer have his own website, but will pop in from time to time to contribute here.

Some Friendly Competition

Lemmy and the gang here at Stock Lemon would just like to say thanks to you, loyal reader and degenerate gambler, for making us your home for advice on sports betting and, once in a while, stocks.

While we're happy you chose us over some of the competition, we also know that we can benefit from some of our rivals. Though we wouldn't mind monopolizing our areas of expertise, we feel compelled to let you know that System Plays is back in business, after shutting down operations in the summer to pursue other interests.

Feel free to check them out... as long as you come back here, too.

Finally, a Free Stock Pick!

It's been a long time since we've rolled out a Free Stock Pick here, and for good reason. The United States economy has been less than solid recently, so you can't blame us for staying away.

However, for those of you still interested in the stock picks we (sometimes) have to offer, we have great value on our latest find.

You might have heard recently of American International Group, more commonly known by the acronym AIG. Perhaps you've also heard of the government bailout of the company and the subsequent drop in the stock from the 52-week high of $70.13 all the way down to the 52-week low of $1.25.

Clearly the company has seen better days. But those days are about to come back, and as the stock closes at an even $5, it's time to get in.

As you can see, the last couple of days have seen the stock rise back up, and it won't end there. While it won't be getting back to $70 anytime soon, it will be going up--and fast.

Lean Toward the Under Tonight

With the Jets and Chargers facing off on Monday Night Football tonight, a lot of the talk is on the offensive weapons of both teams. But let's take a look at those "weapons."

Philip Rivers has been hot for the Chargers, but we don't expect him to keep it up. Ladainian Tomlinson is injured, and might not even play. As for the Jets, their only offensive weapon is Brett Favre, who has been restricted by the play-calling of Jets coach Eric Mangini and plays in a struggling offense. All of that said, we like the under tonight.

New York Jets/San Diego Chargers UNDER 47

That said, we are still debating whether or not to make this a Free NFL Pick. We need to look at a few more numbers to see if this play qualifies, so far now it is simply a strong lean. Remember, our Free NFL Picks are 7-4 so far, which is 64%.

Stay tuned, as we'll officially announce whether or not it is a Free NFL Pick prior to kickoff. UPDATE: With Ladainian Tomlinson in the starting lineup, we aren't going to make this a Free NFL Pick, as it no longer fits our computer system. We still are leaning this way and might put a small amount on it, though.

Free Football Picks Record Update

Here's an update on our Free NCAA Football and Free NFL Picks so far this year:

Free NCAA Football Picks
Week 1: 1-2
Week 2: 2-2
Week 3: 3-2
Week 4: 3-1
Total: 9-7... 56%

Free NFL Picks
Week 1: 3-2
Week 2: 2-1
Week 3: 2-1 (with a pick coming tomorrow)
Total: 7-4... 64%

Combined: 16-11... 59%

Stay with us for more winners on the gridiron throughout the year.

Redskins and an Under Give Us 2-1 Day

The Eagles and Steelers combined for just 21 points today, which isn't even half of the 45 points set as the over/under.

We got some help in the game with injuries to stars Ben Roethlisberger and Brian Westbrook, but we'll take them how we can get them. The solid D by newly acquired Philly corner Asante Samuel (who had a pick) and the rest of the Eagles en route to a 15-6 victory didn't hurt us, either.

This under, along with the Redskins covering a -3 spread in a 24-17 win over the Cardinals, gives us a 2-1 day and improves our Free NFL Picks to 7-4 on the year.

We hope to increase upon our 64% so far in the NFL with a Monday Night play tomorrow, so check back and make some more cash with us tomorrow!

Two More Free NFL Picks For Week Three

In addition to our Game of the Week, we have two more Free NFL Picks for Week Three.

Washington Redskins -3 over the Arizona Cardinals

Philadelphia Eagles/Pittsburgh Steelers UNDER 45

Clinton Portis and the Redskins should take care of the Cardinals, despite a quick 2-0 start by Arizona. Not even an all-pro safety like Adrian Wilson will be able to stop Portis, who has been running hard so far this year.

Meanwhile, we like the Pennslyvania match-up to stay under the 45 point mark, with the Steel Curtain containing Donovan McNabb. With running backs like Brian Westbrook and Willie Parker in this game, there shouldn't be too many big passing plays to run up the score.

Good luck and enjoy another Sunday!

Browns to Win in Our NFL Game of the Week

After a 10-6 season in 2007, there were high hopes in Cleveland for the hometown Browns to finally break through and make the playoffs this year. After an 0-2 start, however, the Browns find themselves in a must-win against the division rival Baltimore Ravens.

Cleveland Browns +3 over the Baltimore Ravens

Even if Braylon Edwards, who is questionable, doesn't play, Derek Anderson and the Browns should finally get on the right track this week against a Ravens team that is getting more credit than it deserves.

Rookie quarterback Joe Flacco will take his lumps in this one, even against a Browns defense that has been less than stellar to start the season. We'll take the Browns plus the points any day in this situation.

We have a few more Free NFL Picks on the way, so stay tuned!

Tulsa Covers For 3-1 Day

The Golden Hurricane of Tulsa absolutely destroyed New Mexico, 56-14, covering the -9 1/2 spread and then some.

Tulsa's blowout win gives our Free NCAA Football Picks a 3-1 day, putting them at 9-7 overall. These plays keep on picking up steam, improving in every week of the season.

Week 1: 1-2
Week 2: 2-2
Week 3: 3-2
Week 4: 3-1

As you see, these picks are finally getting to where we expected them to be, and the 6-3 record in the last two weeks is an indication of that.

Stay with us every Saturday as we continue to pick winners--for free-here at Stock Lemon.

Florida and Alabama Cover Easily

With a 30-6 crushing of Tennessee, Florida made they oddsmakers look foolish, covering the -7 spread with no trouble at all. Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin proved too much for the Vols, making our biggest Free NCAA Football pick of the week a success.

Likewise, the Crimson Tide laughed in the face of the -8.5 spread, as Alabama dominated Arkansas 49-14.

These two favorites provided us with some big covers earlier today, and we have another game pending in what could be a very profitable Saturday.

Friday, September 19, 2008

Three More Free NCAA Football Picks

As always, we have much more than just our Game of the Week play. This week, we like a lot of favorites--including in the aforementioned Game of the Week. The three favorites are:

Purdue (-10) Central Michigan

Alabama (-8.5) Arkansas

Tulsa (-9.5) New Mexico

Curtis Painter and the Boilermakers should dominate the Chippewas in what is our second strongest play of the week. The Crimson Tide will prove they are for real against the razorbacks, and New Mexico will find out that it is indeed Golden Hurrican season.

We like the crop of games this week, and although all our picks our favorites, they are all favorites for good reason.

Good luck!

Florida is the Game of the Week Play

Another Saturday is upon us, which means it's time to throw on your jersey, sit down in your favorite chair, and watch college football all day long. Oh yeah, and don't forget your Gatorade on this particular Saturday, as you'll need it for our Game of the Week.

Florida -7 over Tennesee

Tim Tebow and the Gators should run away from the Vols, even on the road. The spread should be at least double what it is, so take advantage and get on this one fast!

Stay tuned for even more Free NCAA Picks, which were 3-2 last week and should improve this week--beginning with our Game of the Week.

Big Weekend Coming Up

Just a reminder for all of you to keep checking back throughout the weekend, as we will post more Free NCAA Football picks for Saturday and more Free NFL Picks for Sunday.

Our Free NFL Picks are 5-3 on the young season, and we are looking to improve on that 63% mark.

Meanwhile, our Free NCAA Picks haven't done as well, but we rebounded with a 3-2 Saturday last week and now stand at 6-6.

We are expecting big things in the coming weeks from both of these sets of free picks, so stay tuned and enjoy the ride which continues this weekend.

Stocks Update

As you might be able to tell from the name, one of our original focuses here at Stock Lemon was providing our readers with stock advice and recommendations in addition to our free picks in all kinds of sports. However, with the United States economy currently unstable, we have not been touching anything in the stock market for quite some time.

Don't worry, though, we will soon be back to providing you with free stock picks, in addition to our sports analysis and advice.

As always, stay tuned.

Small Monday Night Free NFL Pick

After a perfect 2-0 day with our Free NFL Picks on Sunday, we have to come back for an encore. Therefore, we have a small play tonight that fits our system.

Dallas Cowboys/Philadelphia Eagles UNDER 48

Although both teams are loaded with offensive weapons, our numbers indicate a defensive struggle for tonight.

The Eagles defense should be able to keep Tony Romo and the explosive Cowboys offense in check, while Terrell Owens name-calling should keep Donovan McNabb from putting up big numbers.

It should be a great game, so sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice Monday Night under to end your football week.

Sunday, September 14, 2008

Patriots and Packers Win For 2-0 Day

Yes, folks, that is a Patriots quarterback celebrating after a nice victory and cover for Stock Lemon. No, folks, that is not Tom Brady.

In for the injured Brady, Matt Cassel did enough to lead the Patriots to a 19-10 victory over the Jets, which covers the +1 1/2 and gives us a Game of the Week win.

The Pats D made Brett Favre look... well... old, and the AFC champs continue to dominate the regular season.

Speaking of Favre, his old team in Green Bay also won us some money, with a 48-25 stomping of the Lions. It got close for a while, but Aaron Rodgers and the Pack pulled away to make the -3 spread look foolish.

After a 2-0 day in the NFL, our Free NFL Picks are now 5-2 to start the young season, which is an impressive 71%. Make sure to check back every weekend for more free winners in the NFL.

Take the Patriots and Packers

As you might have guessed from our earlier post this week tracking the line movement in the game, the Patriots/Jets showdown this Sunday is our Game of the Week. And yes, we still like the Patriots.

Patriots +1 1/2 over the Jets

The Patriots might not have Tom Brady, but Matt Cassel can and will just chuck it up to Randy Moss all day long. The Patriots shouldn't miss a beat.

Also, we have just one other play for Sunday, and it involves another quarterback getting a lack of respect. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, despite a strong showing on Monday night, are just three-point favorites in Detroit this week. This line has great value, so get on it!

Packers -3 over Lions

Again, our Free NFL Picks this week are the Patriots and the Packers. These same picks started off with a 60% Week 1, so we're expecting a couple of more wins today.

Good luck!

Three Big NCAA Football Covers

With the Wisconsin Badgers sneaking by the Fresno State Bulldogs, the Oklahoma Sooners pounding on the Washington Huskies, and the USC Trojans taking it to the Ohio State Buckeyes, we enjoyed three solid covers Saturday.

The three covers gives us a record of 3-2 for the day, which is 60%, but we still expect better in weeks to come once we really get our Free NCAA Football picks system down.

Remember to stay with us all year for free pick after free pick after free pick...

Friday, September 12, 2008

More Free NCAA Football Picks

To go along with our Game of the Week, we have four more Free NCAA Football plays for today.
USC -11 over Ohio State
Oklahoma -20 1/2 over Washington
Virginia +11 over Connecticut
Arizona -10 1/2 over New Mexico

First, in what is definitely our second biggest play this Saturday, we like Mark Sanchez and the Trojans to humiliate the Buckeyes of Ohio State. Nothing personal, Ohio State, Big Ten teams just always seem overmatched against the top programs in the nation.

Then we like Oklahoma to route Washington, in what continues to be a disappointing season for the Huskies.

Finally, we hear dogs barking in favor of the Cavaliers, so look out UConn.

Good luck with the plays and enjoy another great Saturday of college football action. UPDATE: We're adding Arizona to the card, so we now have a total of five games today.

Wisconsin is the Game of the Week

Another Saturday is upon us, which means we're rolling out some more Free NCAA Football Picks, including this Saturday's Game of the Week.

Wisconsin Badgers -2 over Fresno State

This game should be a battle, but the steady ground attack of the Badgers should beat the Bulldogs into the ground. We see some big gains out of P.J. Hill as well as some big gains in our bank accounts.

Good luck and make sure to check back soon for the rest of our Free NCAA Football Picks!

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Keep an Eye on the Patriots Line

As Tom Brady limped off the field Sunday, we couldn't wait to see the line for the Patriots next game agains the Jets this week. We figured, with the star quarterback lost for the year in a game that saw his team barely sneak by the Chiefs, the Patriots won't be getting any respect this week against Brett Favre and the J-E-T-S.

We were right.

The Patriots line is +1 1/2 on Bodog, and that will be one to watch for this weekend as we dish out our Free NFL Picks (which were 60% in week one). Keep a close eye on this line, as the public might give the Patriots even more points!

The bottom line is this: the Patriots went 18-1 and earned a Super Bowl appearance last year as a team. Although Brady was a huge part of that, the Patriots still have a great team, and should still be able to beat the Jets.

Brady or no Brady, Favre or no Favre, there's no way we pass up on a chance to take the most dominant team in the league at +1 1/2 over the Jets, who looked shakey at best last week against the Dolphins.

All that the new Pats QB Matt Cassel has to do is chuck it up to Randy Moss, which he proved capable of in Kansas City, and the Patriots stellar offensive line, underrated rushing game, and solid defense should take care of the rest.

When the Patriots steamroll the Jets this weekend, remember to thank us. And Bernard Pollard.

Rodgers and Packers Cover!

It was a successful debut for the new leader of the Green and Gold, and as a result, we've got some more green and gold in our pockets. Well, at least green.

Aaron Rodgers looked impressive as the Packers handled the Vikings on Monday Night Football, winning 24-19 and covering the -2 spread.

The much anticipated start for Rodgers couldn't have gone much better for the Packers, but more importantly, it couldn't have gone much better for us. The win gives us a winning 3-2 record on the opening weekend, which is typically one of the hardest to cap in the NFL.

Our Free NFL Picks should improve upon the 60% mark that they hit this weekend when we dish out even more next weekend. And the weekend after that. And after that...

Stay with us all year as we continue to pick pigskin winners.

Packers Are the Monday Night Pick

If you thought we were done betting on football for the weekend, you certainly aren't familiar enough with this site. We have a Free NFL Pick for the Monday Night game as well.

Packers -2 over the Vikings

After a stellar showing by Brett Favre with the Jets on Sunday, we think the new quarterback in Green Bay will have even more success against the Vikings on Monday. Aaron Rodgers is set to make his first career start in the national spotlight, and our numbers indicate that he will not disappoint.

Good luck!

Sunday, September 7, 2008

Bills and an AFC East Under Are Money

Marshawn Lynch and the Buffalo Bills steamrolled the Seahawks on Sunday, opening the season with a 34-10 pounding.

We took the Bills as a Free NFL Pick with a -1 spread, and didn't have to sweat the result.

Also in the AFC East, the much anticipated Jets debut of Brett Favre went well for the future hall-of-famer, but even better for us. Though the legendary quarterback finished with two touchdowns and earned a win over the Dolphins, the final score of 20-14 fell below the over/under set at 36.5.

These two victories are just a sign of things to come this year in the NFL here at Stock Lemon. Stay with us throughout the year for more Free NFL Picks, at the low, low price of free.

Minnesota and Texas Tech Cover

It was a relatively successful day for us today in NCAA Football, with a couple of nice covers out of our Free NCAA Football Picks.

Minnesota ran away with a 42-17 victory over Bowling Green, covering the +5 spread with no trouble at all.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech took down Nevada, 35-19, well over the -9 spread.

All told, it wasn't a bad day at the office, but we look forward to much more success in Saturdays to come.

Saturday, September 6, 2008

Three More Free NFL Picks

We already gave you our Game of the Week, now it's time for the rest of the solid Free NFL Picks this weekend.

New York Jets/Miami Dolphins UNDER 36.5

Buffalo Bills -1 over the Seattle Seahawks

Houstona Texans +7 over the Pittsburgh Steelers

In Brett Favre's first game with the Jets, he won't even be the biggest story of the game. The weather, not Favre, will have the biggest impact on this game, thanks to hurricane rains and winds that result in a low-scoring contest between to teams coming off of dismal 2007 campaigns.

The Bills are being overlooked at home against a soft Seattle team--don't be surprised to see them win big.

The Texans are a team on the rise and the Steelers are a team on the decline, the smart money is one Houston in Week 1.

Good luck and enjoy the free winners all weekend long!

NFL Week One Game of the Week

The NFL is finally here, and if you're looking for a site to provide you with winning picks week in and week out, look no further--you're already there.

Here at Stock Lemon, we will provide you with the top plays from our proven system each and every week.

Just as we do in NCAA Football with our Free NCAA Football Picks, we will have a game of the week in the NFL, followed by the rest of our Free NFL Picks.

That being said, here's our Game of the Week for the opening weekend of the NFL:

Cincinnati Bengals -2 over the Baltimore Ravens

Chad Ocho Cinco and the Bengals should be able to handle the one-point spread, or uno-point spread if you will. Although the Bengals defense is not the greatest, the same can be said for the Ravens entire team.

Baltimore's D just isn't what it used to be, and unfortunately for them their offense still is what it used to be, only worse. Look for Carson Palmer to hit his newly-named target all day long. Ray Lewis and the once-proud Ravens defense simply won't be able to stop them.

Good luck and keep checking back for more NFL picks, including a few more for Sunday's games.

Friday, September 5, 2008

Three Free NCAA Football Picks

Aside from our Game of the Week, we have three more Free NCAA Football Picks this weekend.

Minnesota +5 over Bowling Green

Texas Tech -9 over Nevada

Memphis -3 over Rice

There is a lot of value in these three games, which all of blow-out potential.

Good luck and enjoy a football-filled weekend. Don't forget to check back and see what we have to say about the opening games in the NFL as well!

More College Football Action This Weekend

We are back with our Game of the Week for tomorrow's NCAA Football action, and will have a couple of more plays later on.

West Virginia -7 over East Carolina

Even on the road, WVU is as solid a play as you'll find on the board this week, so get on this one big. Pat White and the Mountaineers should make a mockery of that seven point spread.

Good luck and stay tuned for a couple other Free NCAA Football Picks prior to Saturday's slate of games.
